The Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is the major downtown venue for live performance in Morris County. It’s housed in the former Community Theatre, a 1937 movie palace, and was renamed MPAC in 2010 after a lead gift from the Mayo family.

Seating runs roughly 1,300 across orchestra and balcony. The programming mix:

  • Touring Broadway productions and concert tours;
  • National comedians and music acts (rock, jazz, country, classical);
  • The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra as a resident performer;
  • New Jersey Ballet as a resident company;
  • Family programming (Sesame Street Live, kid-focused shows);
  • Film screenings on selected nights, a nod to the building’s history.

The theater is one block south of the Green on South Street, an easy walk from the train station and surrounded by the Dining guide restaurants. Most patrons park in the nearby Dehart Street or Cattano Avenue decks; on-street meters reset after 8pm.

Subscriptions and single tickets are sold through MPAC’s site; the box office is in the lobby on South Street.
