Wrong Dog Euthanized After Fatal Attack In Summit, Police Say

A 70-year-old Summit woman was attacked by two pit bulls in November 2025, leaving her injured and her small dog dead. Investigators now believe the dog owner surrendered an uninvolved dog to authorities, allowing one of the actual attack dogs to remain in her possession, and a Summit woman has been charged with animal cruelty and perjury in connection with the case.
