Trio Stole Checks From Mailboxes Throughout Morris County, Officials Say

Three men from Hackettstown and Newark have been charged with stealing checks from residential mailboxes in Mount Olive, Roxbury, and Randolph during August, then fraudulently cashing them within days. The scheme unraveled when police spotted one of the suspects trying to cash stolen checks at a Flanders bank, leading to all three arrests on the spot (one with a fake ID, another with a stolen credit card in tow).
