Standoff In Wayne Ends With Suspected Killer's Death, Police Say

A standoff in Wayne ended Monday after police and a SWAT team entered a home on Westview Road and found the barricaded suspect, Luciano Vargas, 59, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Vargas had been sought in connection with the fatal shooting of Manuel Colon, 61, in Hudson County the night before, in what prosecutors believe was a domestic violence dispute.
