Sherrill Pumps $20M Of Taxpayer Money To Fight Deportation
Governor Mikie Sherrill has allocated more than $20 million to expand free legal representation for low-income New Jersey immigrants facing deportation, boosting the existing Detention Deportation Defense Initiative to $20.2 million total. She also launched a new Rapid Legal Response Initiative to recruit and train volunteer attorneys, with officials saying the combined efforts will double the services currently available to immigrants navigating federal removal proceedings.
