NJ Teens Stuck On Mountain Also Stuck With Rescue Bill, Officials Say

Four NJ teens got a crash course in hiking prep after they set out on a seven-to-nine hour trek in New Hampshire’s Franconia Ridge with no lights, not enough food or water, and the wrong clothes for the conditions. Rescuers hiked 4.2 miles in the dark to find them and got everyone down safely, but New Hampshire Fish and Game plans to send the group a bill for the rescue, which averaged around $1,450 in 2025.
