NJ Takes Major Step Towards Expanding Nuclear Power
Governor Mikie Sherrill convened New Jersey’s new Nuclear Task Force for the first time this week, a committee she created after lifting the state’s 50-year moratorium on nuclear power back in April. The task force kicked off by forming five sub-committees covering everything from permitting and financing to workforce training and public outreach, with the goal of turning next-generation nuclear energy into a real part of New Jersey’s grid (which already gets 40 percent of its electricity from nuclear sources).
