NJ Mayor Defies Council, Vetoes Flying Pride Flag In Town

Boonton’s town council voted 5-4 to fly the LGBTQ+ pride flag at Grace Lord Park during June, but Mayor James Lynch immediately vetoed the measure at the close of the same meeting, saying he doesn’t believe any flag other than the U.S. flag should fly on municipal poles. The veto would take six council votes to override, though local advocacy group Boonton Rainbow Pride has already planned an event to fly the flag in the park on June 20 regardless.
