NJ Lawmaker’s $25 Minimum Wage Bill Gains Traction In DC

NJ Rep. Analilia Mejia co-led the Living Wage for All Act, which would raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $25 per hour, and the bill recently picked up momentum when Senator Chris Murphy introduced it in the Senate. Large corporations (those with $1 billion or more in revenue or 500-plus employees) would hit $25 by 2031, while smaller employers would have until 2038 to phase in the increase. The federal minimum wage hasn’t budged since 2009, making this the first potential bump in 17 years.
