NJ ICE Jail Plans Put On Hold: Here's Why

After months of legal fighting between New Jersey, Roxbury Township, and the federal government, DHS has agreed to pause construction on a planned ICE detention center at a Roxbury warehouse until an environmental impact study is completed. The state and town had sued the Trump administration over the $129 million purchase, arguing the facility would harm the community, violate federal environmental law, and cost the area an estimated $1.8 million a year in lost tax revenue.
