NJ Cop Badly Injured In Drunken Car Crash, Police Say

A Middle Township police officer, Patrolman Austin Kapurelos, 26, was seriously injured Friday night after being struck by a suspected drunk driver while conducting a traffic stop on Route 47 South. The driver, Lucio Lopez-Perez, remained at the scene and was charged with DWI, assault by auto, and other offenses; Kapurelos was taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center and was listed in serious but stable condition as of Saturday.
