A Newark man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to burglarizing two Sparta homes, with court documents showing he and his crew deliberately targeted families of Asian heritage based on the bias that those homes would hold more cash and jewelry. The two break-ins, carried out using ladders and pry tools to access second-floor windows, resulted in roughly $180,000 in stolen valuables and cash combined.
