New Devices Will Photograph Illegally Parked Cars In Morristown
Morristown is kicking off a 90-day pilot program on October 1 that uses solar-powered “safety sticks” to photograph cars parked illegally near crosswalks, fire hydrants, and other restricted zones. The devices capture time-stamped images that get sent to the police department, where an officer reviews them and decides whether to issue a summons. Officials were quick to note the program is strictly for public safety, not surveillance, and no data will be shared with third parties.
