Morris Co. Schools’ Transgender Student Policies Prompt Federal Suit From Parents

Moms for Liberty has filed a federal lawsuit against the School District of the Chathams on behalf of two parents, challenging Policy 5145.7, which allows school counselors to use their judgment about whether to notify parents when a student requests to be recognized as a different gender. The suit argues the policy violates parental rights and the First Amendment, particularly around compelled pronoun use, and names the full Board of Education and Superintendent Emily Sortino as defendants.
