Massive Rare Shark Circles Fishing Boat Off NJ Coast
A whale shark, the largest fish species on the planet, spent about 45 minutes circling the Jamaica, a charter fishing vessel out of Brielle, while it was anchored 97 miles offshore at Hudson Canyon last Saturday. Captain Erik Bogan called it a rare sighting, noting he’s personally only seen three in his career, while his father has spotted just seven in 45 years of offshore fishing. The docile giant didn’t cause any trouble with the lines, and the tuna were apparently unbothered too.
