Major NJ Tech Companies Slashing Hundreds Of Jobs

Several major New Jersey tech and telecom companies filed WARN notices in June, signaling hundreds of upcoming layoffs across the state. Verizon (Basking Ridge), AT&T, Digital Room, Citibank, UBS, Merck, and multiple Optum divisions are among those planning cuts, with the total number of affected workers running well into the hundreds. New Jersey’s unemployment rate currently sits at 4.8 percent, above the national figure of 4.3 percent.
