Knife-Wielding Man Shot By Police Following Stand-Off In Basking Ridge: Prosecutor

A man was shot once by a Bernards Township police officer Monday afternoon after a 30-minute standoff in which he refused commands to drop a knife and then advanced toward officers. Jake Smolinsky, 31, of Asbury, is listed in stable condition at a local hospital and has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
