Iconic Candy Maker Leaves NJ After 85 Years, Lays Off 300+ Employees

Mars Wrigley, the maker of M&Ms, Snickers, Skittles, and basically every candy in your Halloween bowl, is packing up its nearly 85-year New Jersey presence and relocating its headquarters to Chicago. The move will result in layoffs for 307 Garden State employees by October 16, though the company says it plans to create more than 600 new jobs in the Chicago area. The good news for local chocolate fans: the Hackettstown manufacturing facility will keep running.
