ICE Arrests NJ Boat Captain Charged In Harbor Crash That Killed Woman, Infant
A 46-year-old Manville man, Manuel Ernesto Hernandez-Umana, was arrested by ICE after a Coast Guard investigation connected him to the August 8 capsizing of an unlicensed, overcrowded tour boat in New York Harbor that killed a 27-year-old woman and her 5-month-old daughter. Authorities say he lacked the required certifications to operate a commercial vessel, had 14 people aboard a boat with a capacity of 10, and had no infant life vest available for the baby.
