High Fecal Bacteria At 10 NJ Beaches Sparks Swim Advisories
Ten New Jersey beaches, spread across ocean, bay, and river locations in Monmouth, Ocean, and Cape May counties, are under swim advisories after testing above the state’s 104-colonies-per-100-milliliters limit for Enterococci bacteria. The state retests flagged beaches on Wednesdays, and a full swimming ban only kicks in if that second sample also exceeds the limit, which the NJDEP notes is not the typical outcome.
