Flooding Closes Bridges In Jersey Shore Towns As Storm Wallops Coast

A nor’easter combined with a full moon has triggered widespread flooding along the Jersey Shore, closing bridges onto barrier islands from Monmouth County to Cape May until further notice. Long Beach Island, Seaside Heights, Sandy Hook, Atlantic City, Longport, and Wildwood are all affected, with officials urging people to stay home and avoid flooded roadways. The flooding is expected to continue through high tide cycles Saturday evening and Sunday morning, and Gov. Mikie Sherrill declared a state of emergency for eight coastal counties on Friday.
