Early Morning Earthquake Rattles Morris County, Did You Feel It?

A magnitude 1.6 earthquake struck about three miles southeast of Randolph just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the USGS, though no one has reported feeling it (micro quakes under 2.0 rarely make it to the surface). It’s the ninth earthquake in New Jersey this year, and recent activity in the area has been linked to a previously unmapped fault line called the Mountainville Fault.
