Deadly Listeria Outbreak Linked To NJ Cheese Company

Abuelito Cheese Inc., a Paterson-based food distributor, has admitted to selling contaminated queso fresco that caused a listeriosis outbreak resulting in at least 13 hospitalizations and one death across four states. The company faces sentencing in October on a charge of introducing adulterated food into interstate commerce, with a maximum penalty of five years probation and a $500,000 fine.
