Colts Neck Cop Ignored Calls On Duty, Stayed Home, Prosecutor Says

A Colts Neck police sergeant, Daniel Mazzucola, has been charged with third-degree theft after prosecutors say he stayed home during multiple on-duty and overtime shifts between December 2025 and May 2026, pocketing roughly $16,500 in salary he didn’t earn. On two occasions he allegedly logged false database entries claiming he had responded to calls without ever leaving his house. His attorney says Mazzucola has 15 years of clean service and that key facts have yet to come out in court.
