Cemetery Buried Husband In The Wrong Grave, NJ Widow Claims

A Lake Hopatcong widow has filed a lawsuit against Stanhope Union Cemetery in Netcong, alleging that staff buried her husband Allan in the wrong plot after his death in November 2025. Debra Poller says he was placed in Plot 141 instead of the family’s Plot 142, and as of the suit’s April 30 filing, his remains had not been moved. She is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, citing negligence and emotional distress.
