654 NJ Cops Faced ‘Major Discipline,' New Attorney General Report Shows
New Jersey’s Attorney General Office released its 2025 Major Discipline Report, detailing 817 disciplinary actions taken against 654 law enforcement officers across 169 agencies, ranging in rank from officer to chief. The 560-page report covers misconduct as varied as DWI crashes, domestic violence charges, sexual assault convictions, and, yes, wearing earrings. Among the seven police chiefs disciplined was Manville Chief Thomas Herbst, who was convicted on multiple counts of sexual assault and official misconduct involving at least three women.
