2 Beaches In NJ Under Swim Bans For High Fecal Bacteria

Two New Jersey beaches are under swimming bans as of Wednesday, Aug. 19: Elberon Beach Club in Long Branch (Monmouth County) and Maxson Avenue beach on the Manasquan River in Point Pleasant (Ocean County), both showing elevated Enterococci bacteria levels above the state’s 104 colonies per 100 milliliters threshold. Ten Atlantic City beaches that were flagged earlier in the week had their advisories lifted after retests came back in the acceptable range.
