Sara Bareilles wrote the music, Jessie Nelson wrote the book, and somehow the whole thing comes together as a Broadway musical about pie that will make you feel things you weren’t expecting to feel about pie. “Waitress” follows Jenna, a talented baker stuck in a rocky marriage who sees a possible escape in a baking contest and a new doctor in town. It’s funny, it’s warm, and yes, the pie names (“Betrayed By My Eggs Pie”) are doing a lot of heavy lifting. Three performances at Mayo PAC: Friday January 15 at 8:00 pm, and Saturday January 16 at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Tickets run $79 to $159, all fees included.
