Raul Malo passed away in 2025, and there’s no filling that baritone-shaped hole. What the remaining Mavericks are doing instead is something more honest: honoring the music by keeping it alive. On October 29 at 8 p.m., Mayo Performing Arts Center hosts this touring tribute, featuring a decade-spanning lineup of the band (including original bassist Robert Reynolds, back after a ten-year absence) alongside guest singers Emily West and James Otto. Expect classics like “Come Unto Me” and “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” delivered with the band’s signature blend of country, Cuban groove, and Tex-Mex swagger. Each stop on the tour is its own thing, so this one won’t repeat itself.
