The Cab Calloway Orchestra

@ Mayo Performing Arts Center

The Cab Calloway Orchestra, directed by Cab’s grandson, “The Prince of Hi De Ho,” Christopher Calloway Brooks, reflects the Big Band Swing Jazz Orchestra style that came bursting out of the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom during the Harlem Renaissance.

Valentine’s Day at the Mayo PAC this year skips the roses-and-prix-fixe routine entirely. The Cab Calloway Orchestra, directed by Cab’s grandson Christopher Calloway Brooks (billed as “The Prince of Hi De Ho”), brings the big band swing jazz that first lit up the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom during the Harlem Renaissance. It’s a matinee, it starts at 3 p.m., and it’s the kind of afternoon that’ll make you feel like you should own a sharper hat. Tickets and full details are over at the Mayo PAC site.
