Turns out plants have been playing the long game all along. While everyone’s obsessed with spring planting, fall is when seeds are actually dropping, getting cozy with the cold, and being squirreled away (sometimes literally) by birds and mammals stocking their winter pantries. Morris County Parks is leaning into that with this photo scavenger hunt at Frelinghuysen Arboretum: wander the grounds, track down seeds in the wild, snap your photos, and collect a prize when you finish. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 30, which gives you a solid window to poke around without feeling like you’re speed-running a nature documentary.
