Turns out plants are way ahead of us on the whole fall-planting thing. While everyone assumes seeds are strictly a spring concern, a lot of plants are already dropping them in autumn, giving seeds time to acclimate to winter cold and giving birds and mammals a chance to squirrel them away (sometimes literally). Frelinghuysen Arboretum is leaning into that fact with this photo scavenger hunt, running September 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hunt down seeds around the grounds, document them, and you’ll walk away with a prize. Bring your phone, a curious kid or an equally curious adult, and your best squinting-at-a-seedpod face.
