Turns out plants have been playing the long game all along. While everyone’s focused on spring planting, fall is when trees, shrubs, and wildflowers are quietly dropping seeds for birds, squirrels, and apparently now you to find. Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s photo scavenger hunt “Seedy Business” runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 23, and the pitch is simple: spot the seeds, photograph them, complete the hunt, get a prize. Bring your phone, a kid (this one’s tagged for families), and a willingness to lose an hour to staring at the ground in the best possible way.
