Turns out plants have been running a pretty slick operation all along. While everyone’s busy crediting spring with all the seed glory, fall is when the real action happens: plants drop seeds to weather the cold, birds and mammals stash them for winter snacks, and now it’s your turn to get in on it. This photo scavenger hunt at Frelinghuysen Arboretum sends you through the grounds hunting for seeds, and if you complete it, you walk away with a prize. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which is plenty of time even if you stop to argue about whether that thing on the ground is a seed or just a pebble.
