Guest Attraction: New Jersey Ballet presents Red, White and Blue
Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with New Jersey Ballet in a powerful evening of dance that captures the spirit, energy, innovation and resilience of the nation through the language of ballet. Red, White and Blue brings together iconic masterworks and bold contemporary voice…
New Jersey Ballet marks America’s 250th anniversary at Mayo Performing Arts Center on November 13 at 7:30 p.m. with a four-work program built around a red, white, and blue framework. The lineup includes Ulysses Dove’s fierce “Red Angels,” two Balanchine pieces (“Allegro Brillante” set to Tchaikovsky and the crowd-pleasing “Stars & Stripes Pas de Deux” set to Sousa marches), and Penny Saunders’ contemporary “Sur le Fil.” It’s a lot of American history and classical ballet packed into one evening, which feels appropriate given that New Jersey hosted more Revolutionary War engagements than any other colony. Tickets and details are at mayoarts.org.
