The Morris County Historical Society’s walking tour series has nearly 40 outings scattered across two dozen communities this season, and this one earns its spot on the calendar. You’ll follow local historians through the Four Corners and Union Hill area, tracing a story that starts before the Revolution with Dutch settlers, Quakers, and Native peoples, then winds through a religious community’s growth and the rise of public education in the area. Stops include a pre-Civil War one-room schoolhouse and a late 19th-century chapel (schedule permitting). Tours run at 11:00am and 2:00pm, meet at the historic marker across from 501 Openaki Road in Denville, are free, and run rain or shine. Space is capped at 50 per tour, so pre-registration is required. Reach out to [email protected] to save your spot.
