Family Photo Scavenger: Blossoms & Butterflies
June is peak butterfly season, and what better place to spot these incredible insects than an arboretum? Bring your family and see all the colors a butterfly can be — and the flowers that support them. Finish the scavenger hunt and get a prize.
June is peak butterfly season, and Frelinghuysen Arboretum is about as good a place as any to test that claim. This self-guided family scavenger hunt runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 25, 2026, sending you and yours off to photograph blooms and butterflies across the grounds. Complete the hunt and you’ll walk away with a prize, which is more than we can say for most Thursday outings. Bring your phone, your kids, and a willingness to crouch in the mulch for the perfect shot. Check the Morris County Parks listing for registration details and anything else the calendar is keeping close to the vest.
