Family Photo Scavenger: Blossoms & Butterflies

@ Frelinghuysen Arboretum

June is peak butterfly season, and what better place to spot these incredible insects than an arboretum? Bring your family and see all the colors a butterfly can be — and the flowers that support them. Finish the scavenger hunt and get a prize.

June is prime butterfly season, and Frelinghuysen Arboretum is about as good a place as any to prove that to your kids. This self-guided photo scavenger hunt runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 22, 2026, and sends families through the grounds in search of butterflies and the flowers that keep them around. Complete the hunt and you’ll walk away with a prize, which is more than we can say for most Monday outings. Bring your phone, bring the kids, and bring a little patience for the part where someone insists every brown moth is “basically the same thing.”
