Family Photo Scavenger: Blossoms & Butterflies

@ Frelinghuysen Arboretum

June is peak butterfly season, and what better place to spot these incredible insects than an arboretum? Bring your family and see all the colors a butterfly can be — and the flowers that support them. Finish the scavenger hunt and get a prize.

June is prime butterfly season, and Frelinghuysen Arboretum is about the best place in Morris County to make the most of it. This self-guided family scavenger hunt runs daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through at least mid-June, sending you and the kids out to photograph blooms and butterflies across the grounds. Complete the hunt and you’ll score a prize, which is a better outcome than most family outings where everyone just ends up tired and hungry in a parking lot. Bring your phone, a curious kid or two, and some patience for the ones who want to photograph every single dandelion. Check the Morris County Parks listing for registration details and any costs.
