Chess Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month in the Reference Room of the library’s 1917 Wing, with summer sessions shifting to the front lawn when the weather cooperates. It’s casual, friendly competition, not instruction, so you’ll want to already know your way around a board before you show up. All skill levels are welcome, but bring your own chess set and time clock. Think of it as a standing invitation to sharpen your game, make some moves against actual humans, and lose gracefully to a retiree who’s been playing since before you were born.
