Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese fish-printing technique dating to the mid-19th century, and on July 14 at 10 a.m. you can try it yourself in the garden at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum. Teaching artist Lisa Madson leads this hands-on session where participants press real or artificial fish onto paper (or fabric, presumably) to create one-of-a-kind prints. All supplies are provided, though you’ll want to bring an apron or smock unless you enjoy explaining ink stains. The workshop is open to adult artists at any level, costs $15 per person (free for Loyalist members and above), and pre-registration is required. Fair warning: there will be real, dead fish on site.
