3rd-4th Grade Book Club: Because of Winn-Dixie
The summer Opal and her father, the preacher, move to Naomi, Florida, Opal goes into the Winn-Dixie supermarket—and comes out with a dog. A big, ugly, suffering dog with a sterling sense of humor. A dog she dubs Winn-Dixie. Because of Winn-Dixie, the preacher tells Opal ten thing…
If your third or fourth grader tore through “Because of Winn-Dixie” this summer, here’s their chance to actually talk about it with other kids who did the same. The Morristown Library is hosting a 30-minute book club discussion on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:00 PM in the F.M. Kirby Gallery, 1 Miller Rd. Bring opinions on Winn-Dixie, Miss Franny Block, and Gloria Dump, plus the emotional readiness to discuss a book about loneliness, forgiveness, and a very charismatic dog. Registration is required, and copies of the book are available in the Children’s Room. Sign up through the library’s event page.
