The Artist Baker has been making everything from scratch in a small Cattano Avenue room for years: cakes, pastries, cookies, and a side line of house preserves and pickles. Creative twists on the cupcake and the chocolate chip cookie are the calling card.

The shop is tucked one block off the Green behind the former Century 21 department store, easy to miss if you don’t know to look for it. Closed Sunday and Monday.
